Zoom w a View: Getting ready for a Canadian winter

Our house is draft free - as long as I keep the front door closed tightly. And put a towel across the bottom. And close all the windows.

Canadian winter is on the way and should arrive in Wortley Village about 3 weeks after Christmas.

While at The Little Red Roaster this morning, I saw a black squirrel make several trips across a nearby roof top with leaves in its mouth.

I put down my coffee - I don't do that for any little thing - and snapped a few shots.

I Ask You: Did you guess where I was when?

I began a motorcycle ride last week by aiming my bike into the wind, knowing it would likely be at my back on the way home.

Later I posted pictures and asked if you could name the town I visited.


My youngest sister guessed correctly - St. Marys, Ontario, aka Stonetown.


She didn’t win a prize but hoped my wife would make a pie of some sort.


Oh, my wife will make a pie all right. But guess who will eat it!

Today looks and feels great, so another ride is in order.

Maybe to Port Bruce or Port Burwell, both located on the north shore of Lake Erie.

I Ask You: Where was I when?

Where was I when I took these lovely - almost brilliant - photos?


Yes, I was on the Main Street.


I was in a coffee shop at the main intersection of town for a few minutes whilst scarfing down a locally grown muffin.


I was beside a tree in a park that was once a fairgrounds.


I parked beside a river that is visible from the downtown.


Gulls sit on locally hewn stone.

The name of the town is... ?

Last photos of Ottawa trip - highly artsy fartsy

None of the following photos were prohibited or taken inside a restricted area. So, if you’re a member of the RCMP - relax.

These are definitely the last photos I’ll post related to my recent Ottawa trip. [Also, they are not accompanied by quiz questions. Click here for The Photo Quiz].

However, I went to Halifax in June and still have 600 - 700 more shots to show you re that trip. So, you’ve been warned.

One or two below may look familiar; I am, however, trying to present them in a new light. For the sake of artsy-fartsiness.

Next time I (we) go to Ottawa, I’d like to spend a night in Perth. It is a quaint town of 6,000 and has a museum I’d like to explore.

Five tough questions follow. Are you up for this?

Context: Recently, I took my wife on a mini-vacation to Fenelon Falls (to see our twin grand-daughters) and then on to our Nation’s capital (to see the inside of a jail cell and a few other sights).

We visited the National Gallery, War Museum and Archives Canada. I spared no expense. (I even paid 6 bucks for a salad at the Metro on Rideau!)

Now, if you’ve been following the posts and photos, and have a few book smarts, you may be able to answer the following questions easily.
