Letter to the Editor: What? That’s all you got?

Been there. Done that.

That’s all that came to mind after reading a letter entitled ‘Better way to create jobs’ in Wednesday’s issue of The London Free Press.

Jeffrey Daubs sums up his economic philosophy in these words:

“Jobs come from profits and productivity. Employers hire employees when it is in their best interest to do so. If we truly want prosperity we need to cut regulations and taxes so that we can have a business friendly environment at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.”

["A sustainable economy is a long way off": Mojo's runner]

I’m astounded by the simplicity of success and why no one has thought of it earlier.

But wait... someone has thought of it earlier.

Successive governments since the 1970s have attempted to stimulate a business friendly environment by doing the same thing, and we now have a federal Conservative government willing to strip more environmental regulations and lower corporate taxes from an already all-time low in Canada.

Don’t hold your breath for more productivity and profits by following ‘business as usual’ methods. The market place across the globe is tired of ‘ye old tried and true,’ maybe for reasons politicians, businesses and consumers are not yet willing to admit and confront.

We’re way passed Jeffrey’s mantra.

Ever heard of climate change, limits to growth, resource depletion?
