The Long Walk

"Sunday, Dec. 13. Mild weather. Green Hornet covers 7 miles-plus"

My long walk on Sunday usually goes very smoothly. I double-knot my hiking boot laces, head out the door shortly after a small lunch and head for The Terry Fox Parkway and Springbank Park. Thankfully, there are washrooms and fine scenery on the route I enjoy most.

I have learned I walk at a pretty steady 3-mile-per-hour pace and there are only a few walkers who pass me from behind going at a faster clip. That being said, I encountered two walkers yesterday who left me in their dust, not because of long legs but a quicker, smoother stride. Maybe I should take lessons!
