magic bugs and the siren call (3)
Recently, after hearing the siren call of cicadas trying to impress a mate, I went in search of their empty shells or exoskeletons. I found nine attached to the trunk and branches of a tree in my front yard. I took them indoors to impress my grandson, and although he gave them a second look my own partner did not. "Out they go," was her eventual command.
I took one last photo.

According to mad scientists, the magicicadas should reappear in 13 years.
