Vancouver’s Olympic committee may want London’s weather

Earlier in the year a delegation from London, England visited London, Ontario to see how people coped with cold weather.

The full answer surely included mention of years of experience, snow tires, parkas as wide as a city bus and the availability of red long johns in local shops.

(I’m pretty sure size XXL was on sale just last week at Shoppers in the run up to St. Valentine’s Day. I swear).

And now, I wouldn’t be surprised if members of various Olympic committees are hunkered down behind closed doors wondering how they could ship London, Ontario’s weather to British Columbia, particularly around Cypress Mountain, site of various skiing, tobogganing and snowball fight events.

Why?

Our temperatures are below zero (predicted for another week at least) and we have snow on the ground, enough for plenty of Olympic-like events of our own.

Rock on, Winter.

PS If you’re from Cypress Mt., I wish you the best of luck.

And if Canada needs an experienced member for the downhill, 6 passenger and heavily-waxed toboggan event at the last minute, call me. I’m ready.
