Birdhouse London: The mishmash house

Every so often I have to do this because I can't just throw good wood out, eh. I take odds and sods of lumber and make a mishmash, hoping the leftovers look good together. Sometimes it really works, in my humble opinion.

The base is white pine; the logs are old western cedar from a friend's dock reno (from Fenelon Falls); the triangles and roof slats atop the logs are white cedar from my front porch reno, 2008. The contrast works, right?

Black and white chickadees should feel right at home in this log cabin, especially after it's all trimmed out.

What other contrasting woods look good together? Maybe I'll give them a try.
