Letter to the Editor: Help wanted - Reader wants more disasters on page one

In today’s Letters to the Editor in the London Free Press Gloria Kelly gets all fired up and asks a big question that I’m hot on the trail to answer.

She was astounded that the terrible blaze at Versteegh Bros. Ltd, a longtime London establishment, didn’t merit front page coverage and asked:

“What kind of front page news are you looking for other than this kind of disaster in our own city?”

Yeh, come on, Free Press!

Think about it. The recent fire at Alma College got front page coverage.

Our crumbling infrastructure was highlighted on more than one occasion on page 1.

If we can’t see local disasters in living colour then some of us aren’t very darn happy.

I ask, “What kind of front page news are YOU looking for?”

Maybe something more artsy-fartsy?

While you’re thinking run outside and play with matches.

[Hey, just kidding.]
