I take it back.
Last week I said I love it when things come in threes, then added - Not trees. I’m too short - for a bit of comic relief (a very small bit).
However, Carmi (journalist, photographer, stirrer of pots) at Written Inc. has created a unique challenge with this week’s offering at Thematic Photographic.
This week’s theme: Wood.

Excellent take on the theme. A very nice smattering of wood in different forms.
By now everybody knows I find "old stuff" fascinating, and the bench in your black and white shot is striking. It's interesting how many different spins there are on the theme so far. Some of us went for "natural state", some for "finished state" and you've sort of bridged the two with your other two shots. Maybe that's the "in process" state?
Nice work in any case.
I really like the birdhouses... love to see them in progress here. Where do you recycle all your wood from? (I am assuming that is what you do.)
Cheers back atcha!
heidi asked, Where do you recycle all your wood from?
I confess I'm a scrounger and find a healthy supply of 'real' wood on the curbs in my neighbourhood.
e.g. old futons, shelves, cupboard doors.
my most recent supply; 70 year old pine from my porch as new cedar is applied, end cuts from the cedar (I can barely keep up) and barn board from a neighbour's fence.
birds in south western Ontario will be happy to know another 20 houses are in progress - and my workshop smells like a softwood forest.
(my workshop also doubles as a bit of a local hangout and my friends always say they like how it smells of cedar or fresh cut lumber. simple pleasures, eh?)
okay, that enough confessions for one day.
cheers,
gord h.
Thank you for your recent comment on my photo blog.
I love the birdhouses too - that's the photo I keep returning to look at - it's very pleasing to the eye and I love all the different shades and grains in the different woods. I agree with the person that said the old bench seat is a striking photo - it certainly is and interesting. With your first shot you can nearly smell the wood it looks that freshly sawn.
Hey GH... I love the stack of tongue-in-groove boards, raw ends out! And... um... *insinuating*... is that your workshop? Do you need/want someone to come make a mess of it for you? Er... I mean, can I play, too?
