You have to love hockey stats.
One look at my Leafs’ numbers and you’ll see - right away, it’s so obvious - that the team has a long, long uphill climb to get into a playoff spot.
See how many teams they have to jump over? It’s a lot.
Of course, the season is young, we’re not halfway yet, so I still hold out hope that Kessel and Phaneuf and the other boys in blue will turn things around before it’s too late.

Sure, stats show that since their last Stanley Cup win in 1967 they haven’t come very close but, bear in mind, things can turn around at any time.
Why, in 1967 my hometown, Norwich, didn’t even have a team in Junior C. Schoolmates who were the cream of the crop played Jr. C in Woodstock with the Navy Vets.
Now we have a team, at the top of the pile, and Woodstock is way down in the standings.
Stats are great.
Lesson learned: Anything can happen - and it usually does!!
