Earlier in the year I was given a pile of lumber that came from an old cedar deck.
At first I thought, wonderful. Rescued lumber. Up my alley.
["The latest batch of sturdy birdhouses": photo GH]
I’ve since learned it makes very sturdy but (a bit) dull looking birdhouses when compared with birdhouses from fresh white cedar or that have been painted.
So... though I don’t like to get out the paint brush too often, I’ve added painted trim to the last batch.
A little snappier, maybe?
