It Strikes Me Funny: What’s wrong with my birdhouses?

I have eight birdhouses on my small property. Most are made from white cedar, cheerfully painted, and cared for well. I vacuum the rooms regularly.

Recently my wife spotted a bird making its home at the side of the house - not in one of the birdhouses - on a ledge at the base of our chimney.

I once read that robins like open, three-sided boxes. I guess I have another project for my workshop.
