A friend dropped by yesterday with a question: What is the best way to join two pieces of century-old hemlock destined to become a one-of-a-kind table?
He noticed when I didn’t answer right away. My mind was busy with an answer and busier still admiring the rarity and grain of the lumber, a piece that once was part of a well-trafficked floor from a barn situated south of Owen Sound.
“Here’s what I might do, if it was me,” I started cautiously. Then my thoughts trailed away as I snapped a few pictures.
