Busy days in the workshop are over for a week or two.
Three dozen birdhouses from reused or scrap lumber - check.
A few new styles - check.
One for my side fence - check.
After I sweep out the sawdust (and a few ladybugs) I’ll sell the houses to local stores.

One birdhouse pays for a tank of gas for my motorcycle... and spring is coming, right?

Getting caught up on your blogs.
1. Eating what food banks feed: I follow a blog where a woman only spends $3.33 a day to feed herself & her 2 teenage boys. She's vegan and was laid off earlier this year. Pretty interesting.
If you are donating food to a food bank remember to check the dates on your food. They can't serve or give away food that is past date.
We always plant an extra row of food to donate. Check with your local food bank & see if they'll take home grown veggies.
2. Bird houses look fantastic. Have you ever done bat houses? We have one and every year we get bats. LOVE THEM!
Hi twinkelydots,
$3.33 per day is almost unheard of, and must take a determination and level of creativity I do not possess.
One of my fellow food bank board members monitors a local, thriving 'grow a row' program; generous gardeners like yourself help us a lot in the fall.
I'm really glad you mentioned bat houses. I have looked over two or three plans, actually drew one up, then it got lost in the to-do list pile.
I have, in my opinion, the perfect spot for one and will tack up a diagram in my workshop. Again, thanks.
Cheers,
Gord H.
