Zoom w a View: "from the upper deck"

Such a peaceful scene from an upper balcony facing east across the river in Fenelon Falls. However, if I was visiting in Toronto, or thereabouts, I would perhaps be heating up supper on a BBQ or backyard fire along with a quarter million others. And why?

The obvious answer is 'the icy weather.'

Another pertinent answer is inadequate public infrastructure. Above ground hydro wires do not do well in icy weather.

Perhaps we have more misplaced priorities than we realize. We cry for lower taxes and strive for bigger houses and other comforts but underfund many things that are required in a modern society.

We will likely go through a lot more challenges and hardships before we start to pay for the answer to  some of our problems, i.e., underground hydro lines.
