When I purchased two slabs of mulberry last year I didn’t have a project in mind for them.
They were closer to lime green than any other colour and I felt I had to take them home; the price tag, $18 per slab, didn’t deter me. I would think of something.

Within a week I’d decided not to cut the mulberry into faces for birdhouses. I thought I’d just show off the wood in some way.
The first piece eventually became the focal point of a wall-hanging on my front porch.
The second will soon grace the back wall of the house.
Though the wood has dried and is now 300 shades of brown I still enjoy the colour and swirling grains of the wood.
