Blue Jays Sweep ALDS - One Mad Dash.

Three Texas Errors vs One Great Decision.

Forget three errors. Josh Donaldson sees one open door.

Great game last night, eh! A sports commentator's and fan's delight, I say.

Here's my two-cents worth about The BIG Play, bottom of the tenth. Texas Rangers didn't lose on Rougned Odor's error. The Blue Jays won on Donaldson's snap decision after rounding third base.

Gord's play by play:

Martin hits a sharp one to short. Short throws to Odor at second.

Odor tags second but is forced to hurry his throw by a sliding Toronto base runner.

Ranger first baseman is forced off his base by the less-than-stellar throw and bobbles the ball.

Quick note - There are now two out and the score is still tied 6 - 6.

Donaldson, shifting on his feet just past third sees the dropped ball and an opportunity to dash for home.

He dashes for home - hoping to score the winning run!

The Ranger first baseman makes a hurried throw to home plate, fair to good only, not excellent.

The Ranger catcher is in a poor position for the tag at home - Russell Martin's dropped bat (see top photo) is under foot - and he does not catch the ball!

Donaldson adjusts his stride position 2 - 3 steps from home plate and makes a very good to excellent slide.

Josh scrubs the plate with his left hand. He scores the winning run. He jumps to his feet with the winning hand raised (see photo below)!

Final tally 7 - 6. Three Ranger errors - the last one at home plate - and one great decision by Josh.

All this in five seconds. Awesome event.

Thumbs UP 1

Downtown London - Affordable Apartments

["Marvin Rivas buys Honest Lawyer, creates 30 more units"]

I often dream about living in a cozy apartment downtown. I feel I would then be very close to many very interesting amenities and the routine of walking to Oxford and Richmond for groceries a few times per week would be a reasonable form of necessary exercise. I like the dream and Marvin Rivas, owner of Che Restobar and the (former) Honest Lawyer, likes it too.

Above Che he established five geared-to-income units and above Honest Lawyer there will soon be thirty more. I might not ever move out of Old South because I already live in a pretty cool part of town and have my own workshop in the backyard, but I really like how Marvin thinks.

Affordable housing downtown creates a winning situation. Someday, thanks to folks like Marvin, our downtown will be a lovely, lively, hearty place, coveted and inhabited by folks from a variety of walks of life and income levels.

Thumbs UP, Marvin.
