Tuesday. Neighbourhood birds and I are getting back on our regular schedule. I returned from a road trip yesterday, am now sipping my own freshly-brewed coffee and watching birds return to my yard - and the feeder that ran dry while I was away.
The blue spruce in the backyard is bathed in sunlight so many common birds are using its branches as a jumping off point to reach the feeder. A male and female cardinal, numerous sparrows, and a blue jay have already found my first cupful of seeds for the week.
And juncos are coming in flashes to inspect the turf. They don't cast a long shadow in the bird world but I always find them interesting.
