Avocado 24, "Finally, Something's Up"

Like Watching Paint Dry

"The leaves grow broader even in Canada's wintertime"

"Notice anything new?"

I water the avocado plant regularly and try to assess its health. The leaves look fine, but they're growing so gradually I'd have more fun watching paint dry. And the little leaves on the stem seem to be getting smaller, not bigger. So, nothing's happening until warmer weather, right?

Wrong. A couple of days ago I noticed life on Mars! At the very tip of the stem a new shoot is starting to emerge. Happy days are here again.

"New sprout is sprouting - slowly, slowly... but it's something"

"Speaking of life on Mars. The old stem turned into an antenna!"
