The Lure of a Small Port
The distance is 62 km. from my driveway in London to the pier in Port Bruce. It is my destination 90 per cent of the time I take my bike out for a ride.
Good coffee, good ice cream in summer, good BLTs for lunch at a convenient corner.
Great views from a short pier. Great scents, sights and sounds surround the quiet observer.
Comfortable seating - sturdy logs on the beach.
Though I meander toward the port on old, familiar roads now, there is always something fresh about the journey. Anticipation runs high, the scenery on the way - and from the beach - never disappoints. It's not home, but it's pretty darn close.
