This week’s column is divided into two parts, both brilliantly written.
Part 1 is about dogs. Not all dogs, of course. There are so many.
[Has anyone tracked how many pet dogs and cats there are in London? Per capita, are we the pet capital of the world? Just wondering. I bet we’re close to the top. And how many dog parks to we have?]
["Dogs and taxes are related": at The Londoner]
Part 2 is about taxes. And I think parts 1 and 2 are related in some way.
For example, I wrote:
Imagine that a city councillor - pick a ward, any ward - comes to your door in their Sunday best and says, “We’d like to increase the number of services the city provides to you and your family. We’d also like to maintain them well into the future if they seem worthwhile. Any suggestions?”
Next, even though this whole scenario seems like a stretch, imagine what you’d like your city to do for you. (We’ll get to what you can do for your city in just a moment).
By the way, no need to ask for a park for small cats. Studies show most cats aren’t interested, but are in some sort of mood.
See, I told you it was brilliant.
