According to two online sources I can make the big move now. I can pot the pit.

As well, shortly after doing so, I should pinch out the top tier of new growth or cut it off completely to promote new growth. So, I will pot it, then watch and wait before making a major decision.

Conclusion: This is a house plant that requires the patience of Job.
