Peekaboo, I See You

They are not the best nest builders in the avian world but they make do. Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal, however, sure picked a good spot - the blue spruce outside my study window, eight feet from the bird feeder.

From my window I watched nest-building action last week and soon realized I would have to step into the yard if I hoped to snap a photo of Mrs. C. sitting on eggs. She'd picked a branch hidden from my study sight lines. (Clever girl, I say.)

Fortunately, there is still one angle left for me to see her. I won't use it often. She's jittery enough as it is.
