Research: Post-Dieppe, August 26 - 31, 1942 (Parts 1 - 5)

The Winnipeg Tribune is the Star of the Show at Times

With News About Canada's Role in the Dieppe Raid

Lieut. Jake Koyl (RCNVR, Combined Operations) was my father's commanding
officer, highly regarded. From The Winnipeg Tribune, August 31, 1942. Pg. 11

Introduction:

Readers are encouraged to peruse a website maintained by The University of Manitoba dedicated to sharing the full daily issues of a significant Canadian newspaper for a significant number of years, including during WWI and WWII. Click here - The Tribune, Digital Collections

Though I was looking specifically for items related to the role of Canadians in Combined Operations, like Lieut. J. Koyl, there is so much more available within each issue, e.g., details re multiple war fronts and significant battles (e.g., Stalingrad).

Below please find the links to issues from August 26 - 31, a week's worth of news that appeared one full week after the Dieppe Raid:

Another 'Post-Dieppe' series is in the making from news clippings from The Winnipeg Tribune, from issues starting September 1, 1942. The series will be preceded by a good deal of information re Lieut. Jacob Koyl, a popular commanding officer who participated in the Dieppe Raid and whose interview appeared in The Trib, i.e., in Part 5 above.

News articles from The Trib related to the actual day of the raid and the week following can be found on this site as well, under the heading Articles (see 'click on Headings' in right margin; e.g., Articles: Dieppe Raid 1942 - Operation JUBILEE (6)
