"there were four, but..."

The other day I was delighted when a lone blue jay landed upon the feeder and gave me a quick look over. Then, suddenly, there were two.

Without warning there were four, but I couldn't grab my camera quickly enough to capture the ever-so-brief moment.

Maybe today the quartet will return for supper.
